PORTLAND, Maine — The University of Southern Maine has recognized business counselor John Entwistle for his significant impact on the community that extends beyond USM’s campus borders.
The awards were given to recognize those within USM’s College of Management and Human Services who currently serve as role models within the USM community. They looked for individuals dedicated to the improvement of the greater Portland and Lewiston/Auburn communities as it transforms into a more ‘metropolitan university.’
“The committee felt that this program [Maine SBDC] modeled the work that a metropolitan university ought to be doing,” said Joseph McDonnell, Dean of the College of Management and Human Services at USM.
Entwistle is Center Director and Certified Business Counselor at the Maine Small Business Development Centers (Maine SBDC) at USM in Portland. Since joining the Maine SBDC in 1988, John has consistently provided high quality, one-on-one business assistance and training to startup and existing businesses throughout Cumberland County. He has worked with over 4,000 clients, assisted with creating and/or saving approximately 800 jobs, helped clients start over 300 businesses and raise over $18 million in capital.
