Jennifer Granata, FNP-C, earns national nursing award

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Southern Maine Health Care has announced that Emergency Department Nurse Manager Jennifer Granata, FNP-C, has been selected by the National Emergency Nurses Association to receive the 2014 ENA Nurse Manager Award.

The award recognizes individuals that exemplify exceptional professional practice, innovation, leadership and advocacy in an emergency nursing management.

“SMHC is very fortunate to have a nurse of Jennifer Granata’s caliber managing our Emergency Department staff,” said SMHC President and CEO Ed McGeachey in a press release. “Jennifer is an exceptional leader and highly regarded by her peers for her patient focus and clinical expertise. Jennifer exemplifies excellence and we are very pleased she has received national recognition for her dedication to emergency nursing and our patients.”

“Jennifer is truly deserving of this recognition,” added Chief Nursing Officer Pat Camire. “As a nurse leader at SMHC, Jennifer role models the characteristics of this esteemed award. She is an exceptional leader and a valuable addition to our nurse leadership team.”

Granata joined SMHC in 2002 as a staff nurse. In 2007 she became a nurse educator and was promoted to ED nurse manager in 2010. In addition to her ED responsibilities, Granata provides hands-on nursing care as a nurse practitioner. She is a Scarborough resident and will be honored at the ENA Annual Awards Gala in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Oct. 11.
