Islandport Press has officially launched its new website, the first part of a multi-phase web initiative that will dramatically upgrade the company’s online presence and capabilities, in advance of the book publisher’s 15th anniversary in 2014.
Islandport is working with Portland-based iBec Creative. The more robust website allows Islandport Press to better promote its books and authors, work more easily with resellers, improve communication with readers, build community between authors and their fans, create fusion with social media, and advance its e-commerce capabilities. Future developments will push Islandport more aggressively into the mobile world, add tools and resources for resellers, and develop new online communication channels.
“The new website is clean, beautifully designed, user friendly, and significantly more powerful,” said Dean L. Lunt, publisher of Islandport Press. “This is a huge first step in an exciting process that will help expand the definition of publishing for us. I am confident when all the phases of our web initiative are complete in the next year, we will have one of the best, if not the best, online presence in the book industry, regardless of company size.”
The website, www.islandportpress.com, allows users to create individual purchasing accounts and wish lists for books, as well as search for titles and authors. It also enables the company to better highlight books and authors with richer content, as well as to promote local events with an improved calendar that is easily shared via social media. The website integrates all the Islandport social media sites, including the company blog, “Dispatches from Islandport,” and Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest pages.
