Today the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry in Calais announced its capital campaign fund raiser. This fund raiser will allow the food pantry to expand the client service area and food storage areas. There has been a steep increase in demand of the food pantry’s services, which include emergency food supplies, emergency heating fuel (when funds available), winter coats, and diapers for children. The pantry recently added on a 24 foot X 27 foot addition, within that space are a walk in cooler and freezer, and a new client service area. This was a huge expansion over the previous 9 foot X 16 foot client waiting area. The pantry is currently serving over 30,000 meals a year to clients in the greater Calais area, including the towns of Perry, Robbinston, Red Beach, Charlotte, Cooper, Alexander, Crawford, Wesley and Calais. Ian Pratt, from Pratts Cheverolet in Calais started the fund raiser by donating $1,500 to the capital campaign. With out donations like these, the pantry would not be able to service the number of clients they currently serve. If anyone would like to donate to the capital campaign, please send a donation to “Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry, Capital Campaign, PO Box 1005, Calais ME 04619. All donations are tax deductible as the food pantry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
