Maine Irish Heritage Center Hosts Art Exhibit

“Imagining Ireland”

PORTLAND, Maine (August 28th) – The Maine Irish Heritage Center (MIHC) will host a First Friday Art Walk event on September 5. “Imagining Ireland” will feature over 25 local artists including Evelyn Dunphy,Gayl McNally and Ginny Keegan. The MIHC is located in the former St. Dominic’s Church on the corner of State and Gray Streets in Portland. The event will run from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and will include tours of our historical facility including our library. Music will be provided by local Irish traditional artist Christian “Junior” Stevens. The event is free and open to the public. The mission of the MIHC is to protect, preserve and restore the historic landmark that was formerly St. Dominic’s Church, a hub of early Irish Community in Maine; provide a center for Maine’s diverse communities to share their cultural experience through education, programs and community events; and house Maine’s Irish Genealogical Center, Museum, Archives and Library, preserving the story of Irish history in Maine.
