The Bangor High School Speech and Debate Teams are still looking for your old trophies! Bangor High School will host an “All Events” Debate and Speech Tournament on October 26th. During the day, an expected 250 students from 20 schools will compete in Speech and Debate rounds throughout the school. At the end of the day, an Awards Ceremony will be held, and that is where your old trophies come in. Rather than spend over $1,000.00 on brand new trophies the Bangor teams have a tradition of recycling old trophies from any event. Student winners are announced and handed a plaque with the correct event engraved. They then select from an assortment of trophies, sorted by size. Students have a variety of choices: bowling trophies, swimming trophies, stock car racing trophies, sharpshooting trophies… You get the idea. Anyone with trophies to donate is asked to contact Joe Pelletier (Debate Coach) at the BHS History Department by calling 992-5558, or by emailing him at
