Congregation Beth El, Bangor, an egalitarian and welcoming reform synagogue, will celebrate Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur with music of the ages. The Beth El choir will offer prayer set to melodies both modern and traditional. In addition to a cappella prayers, Beth El will offer Kol Nidre prayer. Rosh Hashana services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, and 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. Family services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 followed by Tashlich, the ceremony for casting one’s sins upon the water, at 2 p.m. Yom Kippur services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, followed by a discussion of the Book of Jonah. Family services will be held at 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 followed by Yizkor memorial services at 4:45 p.m. and concluding services at 5:15 p.m. Congregation Beth El is located on 183 French St. Call 945-4578.
