Harvest Fair and Wine Tasting Festival at Machias

MACHIAS, Maine — A Harvest Fair and Wine Tasting Festival, sponsored by the Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at Station 1898, the historic train station next to the causeway on Rt. 1 in Machias.

Events include pumpkin chucking into the Machias Bay by catapults, slingshots and trebuchets, dozens of craft vendors and farmers, a wine tasting festival inside the train station, self-guided kayak and canoe paddles on the Middle River, and a children’s jack-o-lantern contest.

There will also be a shuttle bus provided for the Rice Music Festival held from noon to evening at Cobscook Community Learning Center in Trescott.

All events begin at 10 a.m. The jack-o-lantern contest will be held at 4 p.m. Call the Chamber office at 255-4402 for more information.
