ELLSWORTH, Maine — This is an opportunity for people that are unemployed to get the skills they need to help them land a job. Did you know there are certain key words that should be in an online job application to ensure it won’t be tossed out by a computer before a real, live person ever sees it?

Participants in this Feb. 21 event will explore the basics of resume writing, job search, applications and interviews, in addition to tips on resume content and formatting. Participants also will learn how to present themselves in a positive way by marketing toward the employer’s needs. “Tough” interview questions will be discussed so participants can answer them with confidence.

The workshop is being held from 8:30-3 p.m. on Feb. 21, at the Hancock County Higher Education Center,  Mill Mall, Ellsworth. The Tri County CareerCenter, The Hancock County Higher Education Center and the Washington Hancock Community Agency are sponsoring this free session. A light lunch will be provided.

CareerCenter representatives will be available at the end of the day to assist participants with Maine Job Bank registration. Anyone interested in attending should register online at www.rsu24.maineadulted.org or by calling 667-6499 by Feb. 19. More information about the sessions being covered is available by calling presenters Sue Leighton at 561-4038 or Mary DeLisle at 561-4081.
