GUILFORD, Maine — There are some very exciting additions to this years’ River Festival on July 27 at the Guilford athletic fields. The Guilford Methodist Church is offering a bountiful breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at the church. There will be a fun run and a 5K road race beginning at 8 a.m. (Call 876-4813 to register or for info.) Then we hope you’ll catch the “Redneck” themed parade that starts at 9:30. Please contact Carrie Fellows at 717-5271 if you are interested in having a group or float in the parade.

Then you will want to watch out for the “Tsunami”! Ride the wave on this huge water slide. Surf down 60 feet through the white water and plunge into the tidal pool at the end. This is the tallest, fastest, most adventurous water slide in Maine! BEWARE!! The water slide and the traditional bounce house will be open all day.

Also, new this year, is a pig scramble at 1 p.m. There will be three classes and registration will be the day of the festival. The perennial favorite Pie Eating Contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the annual duck race will launch at 3 p.m. You can get duck race tickets at Key Bank, The Red Maple, and Forget Me Not Flowers.

As always we’ll have great food vendors offering hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, BBQ chicken, sea food, dough boys, as well as the beer tent and much more. There will also be a large variety of craft vendors and games.

On the stage for your listening pleasure will be the very popular Emerald Sky from 1 to 5 p.m. followed by Stillwaters from 5-9 p.m.

Fireworks display along the river will be the finale.
