‘Guardians of Ga’Hoole’ author to visit Swans Island
Chewonki Foundation to give owl presentation in advance of writer’s trip
SWANS ISLAND — Whooo’s heading to Swans Island?
New York Times bestselling author Kathryn Lasky, who wrote the popular “Guardians of Ga’Hoole” series of children’s books that feature owls as the main characters, that’s who. But that’s not all.
Ms. Lasky will visit with children at the Swans Island school on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. But on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in advance of her trip, the Chewonki Foundation will visit the school with a presentation about owls that includes real live owls!
School children from the offshore island of Frenchboro will join the Swans Island kids on Oct. 4 for Ms. Lasky’s visit.
This is all sponsored by the MDI-based nonprofit literacy organization Island Readers and Writers, as part of its Literary Links to Science program.
