EASTPORT, Maine — During the Lenten season, the Greater Eastport Ecumenical Churches Association is sponsoring the popular Soup & Sermon series of lunches of soup and bread, always beginning with a brief Lenten devotional from the hosting churches. The gatherings, held each Monday before Easter, begin at noon and last until people are filled up with the delicious soups and breads, which are free, although donations to the Labor of Love Food Pantry are gratefully accepted.

There has already been one Monday in Lent, but the rest of this year’s schedule is as follows: March 17th at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Eastport; March 24th at the Pembroke United Methodist Church; March 31st at the Perry Congregational Church, assisted by the North Perry Methodists and the Robbinston Congregationalists; April 7th in Eastport at Blakey United Methodist Church, assisted by the Eastport Congregationalists; April 14th in Eastport at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in the St. Catharine’s Room, assisted by St. Anne’s and St. John’s Catholic Churches.
