Give Dad a Call – On a REAL Phone !
Whether your father is a techno-geek, a history buff, a would-be inventor, or an adventurer always looking for the unusual, consider taking him on a tour of The Telephone Museum in Ellsworth on Father’s Day, June 17th.
You can give him a call on a phone made of wood that you turn a crank to use; or be the “operator” so you can put your call through to dad using a switchboard; or use a rotary dial phone that will bring to life some truly remarkable electro-mechanical switches. All are vintage pieces of a telephone network that no longer exists; and all might be called the great-grandparents of today’s cell phomes.
And, on Father’s Day only, the museum will present your dad with a FREE telephone museum mug!
The Telephone Museum will be open from 1 – 4pm on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17. Admission is $10. for adults and $5. for children. It is located at 166 Winkumpaugh Road in north Ellsworth, mid-way between Bangor and downtown Ellsworth off Route 1A. The Winkumpaugh Road is opposite Annie’s Pride store.
