Gifts of Music to do free improv clinic and benefit concert

HAMPDEN, Maine — The Gifts of Music will present a free improvisation clinic and benefit concert featuring renowned jazz clarinetist Brad Terry, guitarist Peter Herman, and the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Hampden Academy.

The clinic is free to all Maine middle and high school students with a suggested donation for $10 for any adult musician who wishes to attend. RSVP The Gifts of Music by sending an email to info@thegiftsofmusic.org.

The clinic will be followed by a benefit concert starting at 7 p.m. Aug. 20, at the Hampden Academy Performing Arts Center. Suggested donation is $5 for students and seniors, and $10 for adults. The performance will feature the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo, Terry and Herman, and some of the students who participated in the afternoon improvisation clinic.
