Gifford’s Ice Cream stands will kick off the 2013 season with their annual free cone giveaway when they open for the season on Friday, March 15. From 6 – 8 p.m., guests at any of the five stands will receive a free two-scoop small cone.
The five stands are located in Auburn, Bangor, Farmington, Skowhegan and Waterville.
Highlights of the 2013 season include the introduction of new flavors and the return of a classic, popular Flavor-of-the-Week specials, unique Spring and Summer holiday promotions, and a slate of family-focused activities.
Also this year, Gifford’s will introduce its new Outdoor Adventure Series flavors. Each ice cream – Appalachian Trail, Campfire S’mores, Fly Fishing Fudge, Golden Road Butter Brickle, Mt. Katahdin Crunch and Muddy Boots – was inspired by Maine’s outdoor beauty and fun summer activities. Cherry Vanilla, a customer favorite, also returns after an absence of a few years.
Gifford’s sells more than 50 delicious ice cream flavors at its stands. The first stand, in Skowhegan, opened in 1980, and it quickly became a destination for people who knew it served Maine’s best-tasting ice cream.
