PORT CLYDE, Maine — Artist Greg Mort has donated a special print to the Georges River Land Trust that embodies its mission. The Trust will raffle a signed and framed print of “Stewardship” with a one-of-a-kind remarque by Mort. Mort painted the watercolor was painted at his summer home and studio in Port Clyde in 1991. Mort donated the proceeds from the sale of the original painting to pay for legal expenses related to the formation of the land trust. The original watercolor now resides in the collection of The White House and has appeared in several publications including TIME Magazine and Carl Sagan’s book, “Pale Blue Dot.”
Mort will host his annual open studio featuring “The Spirit Of Maine” Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4-5, at Fieldstone Castle in Port Clyde.
In keeping with Mort’s long-term commitment to conservation and stewardship of our natural resources, the raffle of the print will help raise stewardship funds to care for the land trust’s conserved lands.
