Gardener and filmmaker Regina Bartholemew will lead a presentation about her experiences gardening “off the grid” at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, February 18 at 12:00 noon.
Regina will tell the story of how she and her husband Marc, both filmmakers from the Portland area, downsized their lifestyle and began farming a small plot of land near Pownal, Maine. Her photos will show the progress of the construction of their mobile “tiny house” and a 2100 square foot tunnel. Assisted by her friend and apprentice Brenna Peak, she will describe her successes and failures of the first season of her “Anarchy Acre” farming experiment without electricity or running water.
Bartholemew is based in southern Maine where she and her husband run Anarchy Acre, an off-the-grid vegetable farming and guerilla gardening operation.
This talk part of the 2014 Winter Talk series at Merryspring, co-sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial and The First. Merryspring is located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford Super Market plaza.
Admission to Tuesday Talks is free for members of Merryspring, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
