MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will host guest speaker Roger Doiron, garden writer and founder of Kitchen Gardeners International, for a presentation at 7 p.m.  Saturday, April 21, at the Performing Arts Center. The talk is part of the Four Seasons of Food and Community lecture and workshop series.

Doiron’s talk, “A Subversive Plot: Sowing the Seeds of a Healthy Revolution,” will focus on how to feed a growing population nutritiously, sustainably and deliciously using a depleted resource base.

The Four Seasons of Food and Community lecture and workshop series at UMM was designed to raise awareness and increase participation in local food efforts, and is a collaboration with the Washington County Food and Fuel Alliance.

The talk is free and open to the public. For information, contact Chad Everett, sustainability coordinator, at 207-255-1360 or chad.everett@maine.edu.
