Bobbie Allen is selling 50/50 raffle tickets to try to raise money for her project The Michaud Walking Trail/Path Beautification Project. This year She has built 5 more planting beds, raised money for more plants and equipment for the maintenance of the beds. One of the beds is located at the bottom of the Forest Ave entrance on the ATV side of the path. These plantings include lupine, coreopsis, black eyed susan, creeping phlox, tall phlox, daisies, blue geranium, and more. The latest project nearing completion is the “Terracing of the Forest Ave. Entrance Hiillside” where she planted well over 50 plants on this hillside in terraced beds that were made by hand. With the mulch donated by Scott’s of Medway the beds all along the Forest Ave. to Stearns and Granite St. to Ash St. portions have been mulched. Two lilac trees were planted in front of the Walker Auditorium to replace the hydrangea plants which did not make it through the winter. New daylilies were planted along the portion of the path leading from Stearns to Forest Ave. Spirea, potentilla, azalea, and rose bushes were purchased and planted along this section also. Lilacs have been planted in the upper portion of the terraced beds. The lupine seedlings are coming along and we should see the results flowering next summer. The Granite St. to Ash St. portion had pine trees planted and a butternut tree was donated by John and Ruth Levesque. John Dicentes donated a white lilac that flowered this spring. There has been some damage done to the plantings and some of it has been replaced or had to be done away with. Everyone has enjoyed the blue cornflowers as well as all the other plantings on both portions mentioned. There will be more plants added this fall to the upper portion of Forest Ave. entrance and along both sides of the hillside. Bobbie would like to get more lupine, tulip bulbs, lily bulbs, blue cornflower, mulch, and wildflower seeds with the money raised from the 50/50 raffle.
