Fort Kent, Maine, November 21, 2013: The organizers of Freedom Fest 2014 announce today that there will be an Informational & Volunteers Meeting on December 4, 2013 at the ITV Conference Room of Nadeau Hall on the Campus of the University of Maine at Fort Kent. The meeting is from 6pm to 8pm and organizers will provide the public with a sneak peak of the performers in this benefit concert to raise funds for a Northern Maine Veterans Museum & Community Center. Organizers will also be looking to start process of signing up volunteers to help at the event. Volunteers will be provided “Concert Staff” shirts and caps for the event.
American Pie Actor Thomas Ian Nicholas and his band The Thomas Nicholas Band have agreed to headline this event in support of Northern Maine Veterans. Rising stars, Maine’s own The Mallett Brothers Band have also committed along with Houlton’s own, Mellow Endeavor. The afternoon will open with the Spirit of Cash – Harold Ford and the Cash Band. Tennessee Haze, Kindred and The Uprooted all from the St John Valley will also grace the stage in support of this worthy cause.
The all-day event will be held at the Fort Kent Municipal Airport and will include a small village of displays from various veterans’ service organizations, vendors and supporters. Special appearances are slated by VIP’s and dignitaries including the First Lady of Maine, Mrs Ann LePage whose primary cause is the support of Maine’s Military and Veterans and their families.
Tickets will go on sale December 1, 2013 and those purchasing tickets online will have an opportunity to submit a name of a veteran which will be included on a wall of honor at the concert venue.
Freedom Fest 2014 will raise funds for a Northern Maine Veterans Museum & Community Center, at joint project of Martin-Klein American Legion Post 133 and the Fort Kent Historical Society.
