Free Presentation – Passamaquoddy Basket Making

Posted Oct. 31, 2012, at 11:36 a.m.

On Thursday, November 8th at 9am at the MDI YMCA, the Y’s Talks and Walks program features George Neptune, a Passamaquoddy basket maker from the Abbe Museum. He will be talking about the evolution of the ash and sweet grass basket traditions. George comes from a long line of famous basket makers. His grandmother, Molly Neptune-Parker just went to D.C. to receive the National Fellowship Award. George is young and innovative and known to break the rules of traditional basket making. Come listen to George and see his wonderful baskets.

After the talk, participants are welcome to use the Y facility. Please note that the Talks and Walks series follows the school closing policy – if there is no school, there is no program. For more information, contact Wellness Director Lisa Tweedie at 288-3511,
