Free Kids Safety Day in Westbrook, Saturday, September 20

Westbrook Public Safety, Saco & Biddeford Savings and Hannaford to host free kids safety event for the community

Westbrook, Maine (August 21, 2014) – Westbrook Public Safety, along with Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution (SBSI) and the Westbrook Hannaford, will be hosting a free Kids Safety Day on Saturday, September 20th from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Westbrook.

Kids Safety Day will be held rain or shine in the parking lot between Hannaford and Saco & Biddeford Savings, at 2 Hannaford Drive in Westbrook. The schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. View smokehouse, fire trucks, ambulances and police cruisers

10:30 a.m. Vehicle extrication demonstration

10:30 a.m. & 12:00 p.m. Car fire with live firefighting

11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. K-9 demonstrations

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Visit a mock crime scene (inside the SBSI branch)

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Meet Nickles, the SBSI mascot

Free hotdogs, popcorn, water and soda will be available all day to attendees.

Additionally, Ernie’s Cycle Shop and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be sponsoring a bicycle rodeo and providing bike safety checks throughout the event. The Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation will be giving away free bike helmets to the first 100 kids along with a fitting and safety check. Finally, the Maine Freemasons will be offering free child identification kits through their MECHIP Program.

This free event is open to the public and is sponsored by Westbrook Public Safety, Saco & Biddeford Savings and the Westbrook Hannaford.
