Free admission to state parks with Maine loon license plate

Posted July 11, 2014, at 2:02 p.m.

AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry has announced that Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, all vehicles with Maine loon license plates will be admitted into Maine state parks and historic sites free of charge.

This offer does not apply to Baxter State Park, Scarborough Beach State Park or the Penobscot Narrows Observatory.

Created by the Maine State Legislature in 1993, the loon plate directly benefits the Bureau of Parks and Lands, under the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, as well as the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. A new loon plate costs $20.
