FORT KENT, Maine — Martin-Klein American Legion Post 133 is holding events throughout Memorial Day weekend. Since the American Revolution nearly 1.2 million men and women have given their lives in our country’s service so that we may all enjoy the freedoms many of us take for granted. Let us all come together to honor that sacrifice this Memorial Day Weekend.
On Saturday, May 25, there will be a 4 p.m. Memorial Mass at St Louis Church in Fort Kent. All Veterans are encouraged to attend and asked to assemble at the rear of the church at 3:30 p.m.
On Sunday May 26th the American Legion Post 133 will conduct Memorial Day Services. All Veterans are invited to participate and asked to assemble at the Fort Kent Legion Post at 7am. Participants will depart the post at 8am to perform ceremonies at Daigle, Wallagrass and Soldier Pond cemeteries followed by military honors at the Soldier Pond Bridge.
The Legion Post is sponsoring a Memorial Day Parade at 1 PM on May 26, 2013. All veterans are invited and encouraged to attend.
More than 10 organizations, including the 836th Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadet Marching Band will be participating. Those wishing to participate in honoring those who have fallen are asked to assemble at the NMMC Parking Lot for the afternoon parade at 12:00 PM. The Parade will begin promptly at 1:00pm. The parade will proceed down East Main Street to the Daigle Oil Filling Station and then South on Pleasant Street with a pause at the two monuments
across from the Fort Kent Library and the cemetery. The parade will end at Fort Kent Community High School.
