Blue Hill Public Library has declared the week of March 27th to April1st Food Not Fines Week, as a means of encouraging food donations to the Hancock County Food Drive. During this week patrons who return their overdue library items to the library can have current and past overdue fines excused in exchange for donations of non-perishable food, preferably heathy choices like canned fruit, vegetables and tuna; whole grain rice and pastas, or peanut butter. Those food donations will go to local food pantries in their communities.
Food Not Fines Week is a win-win event: library patrons relieve their consciences of those nagging overdue items, the library gets items back on its shelves, and together we all help our neighbors in need. People without overdue fines are also encouraged to bring donations of food. Please be as generous as possible! For more information call the library at 374-5515.
