BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestras  will present their spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Husson University’s Gracie Theatre. The concert will have free admission. Those attending are asked to bring donations of non-perishable food items to benefit Good Shepherd Food-Bank, which supplies more than 100 local agencies in Penobscot County.

The concert, which will conclude the BSYO’s 2013-14 season, will feature performances by the Prelude String Orchestra, the Prelude Wind Ensemble, and the Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductors Sascha Zaburdaeva and Trevor Marcho.

Sunday’s program will include works by Brahms, Johann Strauss, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Soon Hee Newbold, and Grammy Award-winning composer Christopher Tin, who was commissioned to arrange a new work for the BSYO’s Philharmonic Orchestra.

The BSYO saw a nearly 20 percent increase in membership and the addition of a new ensemble, the Prelude Wind Ensemble during this season.

BSYO season sponsor was Dead River Co.

Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., and food donations will be accepted from patrons before they enter the auditorium.  942-5555, Ext. 1.
