Professional floral designer, Jonnie Sue Hicks will lead a hands-on workshop in flower arranging on Saturday, August 18, at the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist, 200 Main Street, Thomaston. This is a return engagement, as she led a previous session, which was extremely well received, several years ago.
Flower arranging is Jonnie Sue Hicks’s ministry and passion. Her floral experience consists of a lifetime of growing and arranging flowers. She is currently a member of the Floral Guild of St. Alban’s Church and the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. Professionally she designed and arranged flowers for Evan’s Farm Inn in McLean, VA, and for 17 years owned and operated a flower shop in McLean. In that time Mrs. Hicks arranged flowers for various dignitaries, celebrities and church altars. She was on the flower team at the National Cathedral for President Reagan’s funeral and the consecration and installation of the Presiding Bishop, Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori.
The workshop, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., is $65.00 per person. Flowers, arranging materials, containers and other supplies will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a sharp knife, a pair of scissors and a basket of 8-10” capacity, for a take-home arrangement. Lunch, beverages and dessert will be provided. Space is limited to provide individual attention and one-on-one instruction.
