BAR HARBOR — Etiquette maven Emily Post drove cross-country through 13 states to the Golden Gate Bridge in 1915 during an epic six-week journey with 27 stops. It was a time when not many people had cars, and of those who drove women were few.

Marilyn Solvay of the Seal Cove Auto Museum shares this story with a slideshow and talk called “Women Behind the Wheel: Miss Manners , Emily Post, and the Fiery Motor Beast” in honor of Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 7 at the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor beginning at 7 p.m.

Audience participation is invited. Refreshments will be served. As always at the library, this program is free and open to the public.

For more information call the library at 288-4245 or the museum’s winter number at 801-1286.
