Announcing the first ‘Fall Harvest Artisan Market at Doc’s’
(Cumberland), (Maine), 10/20/2012, 9-3pm. A shopping & outdoor market event like no other. Come & celebrate the arts and some family fun at Doc’s Cafe in Cumberland on Saturday October 20th. Start holiday shopping with artisans from Maine & New England, do some Hardcore Hula Hooping, and take in some local acoustic music, while the kids visit the “Make & Take” Craft Tent for some creative fun. (Rain date is Sunday 10/21/2012).
Heather DeSimone, of Leetie Lovendale (a jewelry design company based in North Yarmouth) and Rebecca Williams, owner of Doc’s Cafe & Marketplace have collaborated to bring together artisans, vintage dealers, local musicians and family fun to create a daytime open air market event. “I’ve been traveling to Boston and Providence for this type of event to sell my jewelry, all Summer.” says DeSimone. “Rebecca and I thought it was time to recreate this open air, artisan fed experience, right here in our own back yards.” Williams adds, “We love doing creative events here as we have the space and a really great community who loves to come together.”
Local artisans signed on to sell their wares at the event include Swirls Jewelry, Kittywitch Perfumery, Littleput Land, Hoistaway Bags & Winter Solstice Dreams. Wares will range from jewelry made of sea glass, metalsmithed goods, pottery and ceramics, tote bags, pillows and home decor, handbags, essential oils, fibers, clothing and more. Local entertainment includes patio acoustic sets by David Jacquet and Reg Parker, Hardcore Hooping (family hula hooping to music) by Tracey Tingley, and a Kid’s “Make & Take Tent” where the wee ones can make fun projects to raise money for the local Greely PTO while parents shop and relax.
Rebecca Williams opened Doc’s Cafe & Marketplace in May, earlier this year. Heather DeSimone has co-owned The Beadin’ Path in Freeport since 1993, and designed as Leetie Lovendale since 2004.
