Excitement Surrounds the Announcement of the 2012 Best of the Best of Waldo County

Posted May 03, 2012, at 1:45 p.m.

Belfast. The old saying, “what a difference a day makes” certainly rings true this year for the Best of the Best of Waldo County. The thought of letting the Best of the Best community event not happen this year brought people rallying to make it a reality. The calls were made, the meetings scheduled and the decision made: The Best of the Best (BOB) of Waldo County is definitely happening this year. Working with The Republican Journal, the green light was given to proceed full steam ahead. Special thanks go to Reade Brower and The Republican Journal for their support and help in this transition.

The 2012 event was officially kicked off with a new logo and BOB team announcement at the recent Belfast Chamber Business After Hours. Our Town Belfast , the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce and the University of Maine Hutchinson Center are thrilled to announce their partnership for this year’s Waldo County’s Best of the Best & Business Showcase. People’s Choice Winners will be selected by popular vote, but new this year is the opportunity for all Waldo County businesses to participate in the showcase, subject to space availability!

So mark your calendars for the Gala event and festivities that are scheduled for Monday, August 20th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. hosted once again at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast. It is THE event of the year not to be missed! As in past years, all proceeds from this event including the silent auction will support student scholarships at the Hutchinson Center.

Need to vote for your favorite business? Plans are for a run of the ballot to be in The Republican Journal on May 17 and another ballot run the following week of May 24. Any early birds whose ballots were submitted back in March under the original insert will be counted along with the new votes. For those who prefer, a downloadable ballot will also be available online by going to www. belfastmaine.org
