EMCC hosts Open House for Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Degree Program

Join faculty and recent graduates for an informative “open house” learning what the Eastern Maine Community College Outdoor Recreation degree program is all about. The two-hour informational session will take place on Thursday, August 10th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm along the shore of the East Branch of the Penobscot River in Medway at the Medway Recreation Area. The open house will include 4 – 6 interactive mini topics on subjects taught within the program. Topics for the day include map and compass navigation; river paddling skills such as signals, canoe or kayak paddling and learn a canoe T rescue; medical skills such as wound management and cleaning; camp craft skills like hanging a bear bag, building a Leave No Trace campfire, or treating water; climbing and rescue including rope ascending and rappelling and litter rescue.
