The Friends of Fort Knox special event season officially kicks off on Saturday, July 6th, featuring an Elton John tribute band named, “Yellow Brick Road. The concert takes place on the Fort parade grounds from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM; tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under age twelve. This is a professional band that has performance dates across the country. Tickets may be purchased the evening of the event or in advance by telephoning 469-6553. Attendees to the concert are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and for those with a mind for it, comfortable dancing shoes.
Following the Elton John concert, on Saturday, July 13th, from 6 PM to 8 PM, visitors may listen to the haunting refrain of bagpipe music, from four different bagpipe bands from Maine. The St. Andrews Society of Maine and the Friends of Fort Knox cosponsor the annual Scottish Tattoo. Ticket prices are the same as for the Elton John concert and may be obtained in the same manner.
