Ellsworth Photographer Receives Prestigous Awards at MPPA Convention

On March 3rd, 2014 Ellsworth photographer Billy Brehm was the recipient of two highly prestigious awards. The “MPPA Masterpiece Award” for his Commercial Photography entry, “Rock Star for Portland Magazine” and the “MPPA Court of Honor Award” for the highest scoring image in the Commercial Photography category also for “Rock Star”. He received these honors at the Awards Banquet of the Maine Professional Photographers Association (MPPA). The MPPA convention and image competition was held in Brunswick, ME – February 28th through March 4th, 2014. In addition to these awards his entries also garnered two blue ribbon merit awards and three red ribbons of above average workmanship. The Court of Honor and Masterpiece Awards are given for outstanding achievement in four different categories, Commercial, Portrait, Wedding and Illustrative.

There were a total 216 entries, submitted by 35 professional photographers for anonymous judging by a visiting panel comprised of six certified professional photographers from different states, who have achieved the Master Photographer designation from the Professional Photographer’s of America (PPA). Billy is a member of PPA as well as the MPPA..

Billy has been a member of the MPPA since 1998 and over the years has received numerous blue ribbon merit awards, Masterpiece Awards in 2003, and 2008 as well as the President’s Cup Award in 2006.
