Direct Install program deadline set for July 19
MACHIAS, Maine – In March, Efficiency Maine, in partnership with Bangor Hydro Electric Company and the Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce,
launched a Small Business Direct Install Pilot Program in East Machias, Machias, Machiasport, Jonesboro and Jonesport.
Having successfully installed a number of lighting projects throughout the area, the program will be moving on to other pilot regions on July 19.
Qualifying Machias Bay area businesses interested in a lighting assessment must contact Efficiency Maine before July 19 at 866-376-2463.
This program was designed to reduce commercial customers’ utility costs by providing the opportunity to upgrade existing lighting to state-of-the -art, energy-efficient lighting – with incentives of up to 70 percent of the cost of the upgrade provided by Efficiency Maine.
“When we first heard about the program, it seemed too good to be true,” said Steven Pineo, owner of Pineo’s True Value Hardware in Machias, one of the first to sign on for the upgrade. “They installed energy-efficient lights throughout the store, and they even disposed of all the old materials and paid for most of the project. We are already starting to see significant savings on our electricity bill each month. The lighting is very pleasant and bright throughout the entire store. I can’t speak highly enough about the
way Efficiency Maine designed and executed this project. A huge success.”
MBACC Executive Director Sharon Mack said that businesses interested in lowering their energy costs while financing eligible projects on their electric bills should call Efficiency Maine at 866-376-2463 before July 19h to schedule a free, no-obligation lighting energy assessment and determine if significant energy savings can be achieved at the facility.
