PORTLAND, Maine — Eaton Peabody is pleased to welcome attorney Alfred C. Frawley as Senior Counsel to the firm, and will be resident in the firm’s Portland office at One Portland Square.
Frawley joins Eaton Peabody’s as an intellectual property attorney in the firm’s Business Practice. He has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of legal fields. His concentration is in privacy law, intellectual property and technology law. Fred Frawley is recognized for his work in IP Litigation in the 2013-2014 edition of Chambers and Partners USA and in Best Lawyers of America in the following areas: Copyright Law, Litigation – Intellectual Property, Litigation – Patent and Trademark Law.

Fred Frawley is one of Maine’s most experienced attorneys in privacy, technology and intellectual property. He is a Certified Privacy Information Manager (CIPM). The CIPM certification is issued by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) (www.privacyassociation.org) and is the first and only certification in privacy program management, developed in response to overwhelming demand to collect and collate common practices for managing privacy operations. Fred is an active member of IAPP and the International Trade Association (INTA). H has extensive experience serving international and national businesses and is recognized for his ability to analyze, negotiate and resolve complex legal problems before litigation becomes necessary.
In addition, Frawley practiced with the Washington, D.C., law firm of Howrey & Simon, where he focused on complex antitrust and trade regulation cases, and also at the firm of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth in Washington, where he represented broadcast media clients in a wide range of Federal Communications Commission issues. He has practiced law in Maine since 1982 and has appeared in Federal and State courts throughout the United States.
A native of Bangor, Frawley received his bachelor’s degree cum laude from Dartmouth College and his law degree cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law. He also earned a Master’s of Law in Taxation (LLM) from the Georgetown University Law Center.
As resident of North Yarmouth, Frawley is a founder, board member and past president of the Foundation for Faces of Children, which supports research and education at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Fred has served on the Board of Directors of the McLaughlin Foundation, South Paris, Maine, and Maine Preservation, Yarmouth. Fred currently serves as Board President of the Regional Transportation Program in Portland.
