Easton Jr/Sr High School Announces Class Honor Parts

The principal of Easton Junior Senior High School, Cameron Adams, is pleased to announce the honor parts for the graduation ceremonies of the Class of 2013. The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013.

Valedictorian

Carla Halvorson is the daughter of Chuck and Traci Halvorson. Carla has been a member of the National Honor Society and has served as the Maine NHS President. Carla has been a member of the Key club, serving as the Vice President. She has participated in the Student Council, serving as Secretary and President. Carla has been a member of the Varsity Club for four years and French Club for three years. She was the first place speaker at Junior Exhibition and has been a member of the casts for One Act play all four years. She has been involved in Math Team, Envirothon, and the Eastonia yearbook staff, serving as Editor. Carla’s academic awards also include the Phi Beta Kappa Award, Maine Principal’s Award, and the President’s award for Educational Excellence. Carla has been a member of the basketball, soccer, and volleyball teams for all four years. She has been a co-captain of the basketball and soccer teams. Carla is a member of the 50 goal club in soccer and holds the school record of 94 goals. Carla’s athletic awards include Aroostook League Scholar Athlete, All-Aroostook Basketball Team, All-Aroostook Soccer Team, All-East Soccer Team, All-State Soccer Team, Aroostook County All-Star Classic Team, Aroostook League Division II Volleyball All-County Team, McDonalds Academic All-State Team, State Winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award and the Butch Shaw Sportsman Award. Carla will study Exercise Science at Cedarville University in Ohio.

Salutatorian

Jared is the son of Rick and Tisha Hafford. Jared has been a member of the National Honor Society, French Club for two years, Varsity Club for four years, the Eastonia yearbook staff and Student Council for two years, serving as Treasurer and Vice President. Jared has been a member of the basketball team for four years, serving as Captain, soccer for four years, serving as Captain, and volleyball teams for two years. Jared’s athletic awards include WAGM’s Athlete of the week, Aroostook League Scholar Athlete, All Aroostook Basketball Team and the Aroostook County All-Star Classic Team. Jared will study Business Management at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

1st Honor Essayist

Kennedy Young is the daughter of Lennie and Deborah Young. Kennedy has been a member of the National Honor Society and has served as the Chapter President. She has served her class as Secretary for two years. Kennedy has been a member of the French Club for two years and the Varsity Club for four years. She has also been a member of the FFA, a speaker at Junior Exhibition, and a Cheerleader. Kennedy was a member of the Varsity Soccer team, serving as Captain. Kennedy’s athletic awards include the All Aroostook Soccer Team & All East Soccer Team. Kennedy will study Criminal Justice at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

2nd Honor Essayist

Logan Sutherland is the son of Paul and Debbie Sutherland. Logan has served his class as Treasurer for two years. He has be an active member of the FFA, serving as Secretary for two years. Logan as been a member of the Varsity Club and the Eastonia yearbook staff. Logan’s athletic career has included JV basketball, Varsity basketball, Varsity Soccer, and Volleyball. Logan will study Computer Engineering at the University of Maine.
