East Asian Garden Tour

Posted Feb. 07, 2014, at 10:07 a.m.

Liz Stanley and Lee Schneller-Sligh will lead a presentation on the gardens and agriculture of East Asia at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, February 11 at 12:00 noon.

This photographic journey will guide viewers through the breathtaking and beautiful gardens of Japan, placing emphasis on their form and function, and how western gardeners can learn from them. A second part of the presentation will inform viewers on the agriculture of China, and how it is both traditional and rapidly changing for growing and global economies.

Stanley coordinates adult and youth garden programs for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo Counties. Schneller-Sligh is the owner and operator of Lee Schneller Fine Gardens, as well as the author of The Ever Blooming Flower Garden.

This talk part of the 2014 Winter Talk series at Merryspring, co-sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial and The First.

Merryspring is located at 30 Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford Shopping Plaza in Camden.

Admission to Tuesday Talks is free for members of Merryspring, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
