Down East EMS September 2013 Report

Posted Oct. 08, 2013, at 8:55 a.m.

September 2013 saw Down East EMS complete a total of nearly 200 runs from bases in Eastport, Lubec, Machias and Woodland.

Almost half of these were emergency calls to citizens homes. Many others were transfers from hospitals-mainly Calais Regional and Down East Community- to hospitals in Bangor and other Maine communities so patients could receive services not available in Washington County such as cardiac care.

Company News

Congratulations to Kaylee Brown who is now licensed at the Paramedic level.

We are excited that we have been able to acquire 4 new to us ambulances. Of note is that we were able to acquire these ambulances at excellent cost. This will increase our fleet reliability and versatility.

During the day we now base an ambulance at Machiasport Fire Department with the truck in Lubec at night. This will allow us to provide paramedic backup to services ranging from Dennysville to Columbia Falls and provide transfer service to patients from Down East Community Hospital.

Reminder October 15th in Machias from 1200 to 1800 free flu shots will be provided at the Lee Pellon Center in Machias.
