Dennysville Cemetery Committee to Hold Public Meeting

Posted June 12, 2012, at 10:16 p.m.

A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Memorial Library on King Street in Dennysville. The purpose of the meeting is to hold an open discussion regarding the upkeep of the Dennysville Cemetery. Many gravestones need repairs and/or cleaning, and new, volunteer members of the Cemetery Committee are needed.

An inventory of all gravestones has determined that around 200 stones need to be repaired. Since the cemetery goes back to the late 1700′s, many graves do not now have family members to care for them.

The Cemetery Committee will be applying for grant money with which to fix the stones, and other fund raising ideas are needed. Anyone interested in helping and/or joining the committee, please contact Rick Jamieson at 726-3904 or Bill Attick at 726-4685, and please plan to attend the meeting on June 20.
