CAMDEN, Maine — Former State Representative and small business owner Dave Miramant (D-Camden) announced today that he is running for the Maine Senate in District 12, which includes all of Knox County except for the town of Washington. Incumbent State Senator Ed Mazurek announced yesterday that he will not seek re-election.
“State government needs to work for the people of Maine, not special interests,” said Miramant. “I am running because we need more legislators who will work with one another to grow our economy, protect our environment, and invest in our Midcoast communities.”
Miramant has been endorsed by outgoing Senator Ed Mazurek (D-Rockland), who is not seeking re-election after ten years of legislative service.
“I served with Dave in the Legislature and was always impressed with his integrity and work ethic,” said Senator Ed Mazurek (D-Rockland). “I strongly support him and encourage everyone who has graciously supported me through the years to support him as well.”
Miramant, who served in the Maine House with Senator Mazurek from 2006 through 2008, said he was honored to receive his support.
“I have learned a great deal from Sen. Mazurek during my time serving with him and as his constituent and friend,” said Miramant. “I hope to be able to draw on his wisdom should I get the chance to sit in his seat.”
In addition to his legislative service, Miramant served on the Camden Selectboard from 2000 through 2003, and currently serves on the Camden Personnel Committee. He has owned several small businesses, and currently operates Spirit Soaring in Owl’s Head, which provides glider rides. He is a retired commercial airline pilot and captain for Delta Airlines.
Miramant lives in Camden with his wife of thirty-three years, Dee Webster. They have two grown children.
Miramant is running as a Clean Elections candidate.
