Andrew Hamilton- Father of the Bride needs your votes!

BANGOR, ME – Andrew Hamilton, an attorney for Eaton Peabody, will soon be the father-of-the-bride. In an effort to brush up on his dancing skills and prepare for the father/daughter dance at the reception, he happily agreed to perform at the Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen’s Dancing Like the Stars on March 9th.

Although Andrew has not lost any anyone in his family from breast cancer, he has had many friends affected by it. Andrew has many important females in his life; whether they are at home, at work, or in the community, he wants them all to know that he is doing this for them!

Andrew also wants to make sure that we give credit to his talented dance partner, Amber Saucier. He wants to let us all know that she is a truly exceptional dancer and that he thanks her for being a remarkable teacher!

Andrew Hamilton practices law at Eaton Peabody. Andy counsels clients in central, northern and coastal Maine regarding land use, environmental and municipal law matters. He has been involved over the years in a number of community efforts, including service as past President of the Katahdin Council, Boy Scouts of America; past Senior Warden of St. John’s Episcopal Church; and past Chair of the Board of Trustees of John Bapst Memorial High School. Andy currently serves as Board Chair-Elect of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce and also as a co-chair of the leadership team of Mobilize Eastern Maine. He serves as Board Chair for the United Way of Eastern Maine. He is also an enthusiastic member of the Landlords acapella barbershop singing group.

Fans can support Andy by purchasing tickets to the show and/or voting for him at $1 per vote. You don’t have to wait until the night of the event, however. Dancers are collecting “votes of confidence” prior to the event online.

Vote for Andy at http://maine.info-komen.org/goto/andy_hamilton or purchase tickets to the show at http://www.komenmaine.org. Tickets can also be purchased in person at Hero’s Sports Grill in the Penobscot Plaza in Bangor or the Affiliate’s office at 12 Acme Road, Brewer, as well as at the door on the night of the event. The event will take place on March 9th starting at 5:30pm at Gracie Theatre at Husson University.

Eight local celebrity dancers, along with dance coaches provided by the Back Door Dance Studio, will compete for the top prize. In addition to Andy Hamilton, our 2013 dancers are: Dolly Perkins from Realty of Maine, Andre Cushing, State Senator and from ERA Dawson Bradford, Allen Adams from The Maine Edge, John Osborne from Hollywood Casino, Dorian Daniels from I-95, Melissa Kim from WLBZ-2 and Nichi Farnham, a local community leader.

Due to the annual success of the Race for the Cure and other fundraising efforts like Dancing Like the Stars, the Komen Maine Affiliate has invested over $2.6 million for education, screening and treatment programs and over $780,000 for breast cancer research through the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program. The community grants program is the backbone of the local affiliate, but their impact reaches far beyond those programs, including breast health education offerings and community organizing.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Promise: to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
