Calais Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Jodi Hiland Schielke and Dr. Lorenz Schielke to the Radiology Department.

Drs. Schielke relocated to the Calais area via Connecticut, but the area is not new to Dr. Jodi Schielke. She is a local graduate of Woodland High School and very excited to be coming home to provide much needed services. She has even worked at CRH previously as a physical therapist before returning to school to earn her medical degree. She states, “It is wonderful to return home and again work in my chosen profession, but it feels even better to also bring along the great experience and knowledge that my husband is able to offer.” Dr. Lorenz Schielke adds that being able to contribute to the services and procedures available locally to patients is exciting and something he is very much looking forward to providing. “It will be wonderful to work in an area with true need,” he explained. “We will have a great opportunity to work closely with and get to know the local clinicians and their patients.”

The Schielke family also includes their two young sons, ages 4 and 23 months, and Barkley, their 8-year-old golden retriever. Dr. Lorenz Schielke has some familiarity with Maine from family vacations when he was younger that he always enjoyed. He is looking forward to being in Maine full time and experiencing all the area has to offer on a regular basis. Drs. Schielke are both excited to build the radiology program at CRH and provide access to more services locally for community members. Dr. Jodi Schielke explained, “being able to come back home and provide services to the community that helped raise me is very exciting and satisfying.” “The opportunity to live on the Maine coast and serve an underserved area was a great draw” added Dr. Lorenz Schielke. “The fact that it brings my wife back closer to her extended family and hometown is such a nice bonus.” Of course, both are very excited to have more time as a family and to spend with their young sons as they grow up.

When not working, the Schielke family enjoys many sports and outdoor activities, including running, lacrosse, hiking, tennis, and soccer. Dr. Lorenz Schielke is also a huge Green Bay Packers fan and likes keeping up with the football games.

Lorenz Schielke, M.D. earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. His residency was completed at the Baystate Medical Center Campus of Tufts School of Medicine in Springfield, MA. He also completed a Fellowship in Body Imaging at Cornell Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Dr. Lorenz Schielke has been practicing for 14 years, most recently in Springfield, MA.

Jodi Hiland Schielke, D.O., earned her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. Her residency was completed at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT. She recently completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT, where she was selected by faculty and her peers to serve as the Chief Fellow.

Drs. Schielke began providing services on July 14. Please give the Schielke family a warm welcome (or welcome back) when the opportunity presents itself.
