Covenant Health Systems-Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center announce partnership

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a 60-bed not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing skilled nursing, rehabilitation and supportive services in Bangor, has entered into a management contract with Covenant Health Systems, headquartered in Tewksbury,  Mass., to begin April 1.

 “We believe that our relationship with Covenant Health Systems will permit us to more readily fulfill our mission to the community we serve,” said  Phillip Bennett, administrator,  in a press release. “We are pleased to find a management partner in Covenant who respects our individual philosophy and mission while availing us of services that a regional health and elder care delivery network can provide.”    

Andrew Sturgeon, board chair adds: “We are excited about the opportunity to work with Covenant Health Systems for many reasons.  They have a significant presence in Bangor with their relationship to St. Joseph Healthcare which will allow the Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to further develop our responses to the challenges and opportunities of health reform.   The Board has also been impressed with Covenant’s commitment to quality care.”

Covenant Health Systems is a values-based, Catholic, not-for-profit health care system based in Tewksbury, Mass. Covenant sponsors hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living residences and other health and elder services throughout New England.  In Maine, Covenant sponsors several facilities  including St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston  and St. Andre Health Care in Biddeford.

Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapies which are provided seven days a week in-house  by a  professional rehabilitation team designed to help residents recover in the shortest possible time.
