What is a costume swap? You bring in a gently used costume or clothing to make a costume and then you swap it with whatever else is there. This year, Brewer Costume and SNAP Fitness are partnering up to host the 4th annual Costume Swap at SNAP Fitness in Brewer from 12 – 4 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013. This year we will also allow the swapping of Halloween items such as door decorations and lights. Please, no plastic costumes. Everyone is invited to the FREE event! We will have door prizes and a few special treats for your child.
Brewer Costume is a member of Green Halloween which is a member of the Echo Mom Alliance. We believe in making the world a better, healthier place for children and future generations by taking charge and making small changes now. Little things such as reusing decorations or costumes for multiple years is a good start. Other ideas include swapping decorations for Halloween and Christmas with neighbors and friends. Their old is your new.
We are open to taking early costume and other items before the date of the swap. All we ask is that they are clean and gently worn. Don’t have a costume to swap? That’s ok too! Stop by and see what we have and if you find something, its ok to take it!
Here’s a little tidbit to get you thinking if attending the swap is something you may want to do. If we swapped half of the costumes children wore at Halloween we would reduce annual landfill waste by over 6250 tons! That’s almost equal to the weight of 2500 mid sized cars!
