Lots of Tots Childcare completed its first ever Cooking Matters for Kids series in September with 15 Graduates receiving certificates at a ceremony in Princeton on Thursday. The cooking series is coordinated by Cooking Matters Maine, a program of Good Shepherd Food Bank and The Share our Strength Foundation, and was organized by Washington County: One Community’s SNAP Ed Program.
WCOC’s Nutrition Educator, Joe Ferrier, partnered with Lots of Tots staff to deliver six lessons focused on trying new foods, healthy eating, and basic cooking skills. The class was a big hit with parents, who received free groceries at the end of each session to practice making recipes at home with the family.
WCOC has a Cooking Matters for Adults series currently running at the Machias Food Pantry. In addition, series are planned for Cooking Matters for Teens in Eastport, at the Labor of Love Nutrition Center starting in November, and Cooking Matters for Adults at the St. Croix Early Care and Education Center in Calais starting in January.
