Community of Heroes to NCSoft: Please Don’t Destroy Our World

Posted Oct. 13, 2012, at 1:34 p.m.

Dear Bangor Daily News,

(Press Release linked below signature)

As you may have recently heard, the popular and profitable MMO known as City of Heroes (CoH) has recently been announced to be closed on November 30th. The community of people who use this virtual world as their meeting place and who enjoy the unique experiences it offers would like to invite the media to join them on October 20th, 2012, to experience what they love about their City. Also occurring on this day are several unity and celebratory events, including a charity Game-a-Thon (http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=9445) to support Children’s Miracle Network (as the City of Heroes draws to a close, the players were determined to be heroes in the real world at least one more time).

Though the physical HQ of the invitation for those who have not before had a chance to see the City is in Rolla, Missouri, the beauty of an online community is that the meetingplace is anywhere there is access to the internet. The local contact in Maine for media and others who wish to learn more about how to be present virtually is Carl Pease at cpease61@roadrunner.com; I am also available at cameron.e.johnson@gmail.com to answer questions and help arrange your access to see the heroes and villains of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, to let you share with your readers what it is that this community is trying to celebrate – and just maybe save – before it is gone forever.

Sincerely,

Cameron Johnson
