COL McMoarn to provide keynote address at Military Appreciation Night

We are pleased to announce today that COL Verne C. McMoarn will be the Keynote Speaker at the Military Appreciation Ball at the Fort Kent Knights of Columbus Hall on December 22nd.

COL Verne C. McMoarn was born in Chicago Illinois and moved with his family to Maine in 1972. Upon graduating from Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln Maine in 1976, he enlisted in the Army and served three years in the 82nd Airborne Division. COL McMoarn began his service with the Maine Army National Guard in 1984. He attended the Maine Military Academy Officer Candidate School and commissioned as an Infantry officer in August, 1985.

COL McMoarn has served in a variety of command and staff assignments throughout his career, which include Rifle Platoon Leader, Rifle Company Commander, Battery Commander, Battalion S-4, and Battalion Executive Officer. He served as the Battalion Commander of 1-152 Field Artillery Battalion from 2002 to 2004. Following his battalion command, COL McMoarn deployed to Afghanistan where he served as an Embedded Team Trainer and logistics advisor to the 209th Corps of the Afghan National Army. Upon his return from Afghanistan COL McMoarn served as the Operations Officer for the 52nd Troop Command and later as the Technical Branch Manager G4 Joint Force Headquarters. In May of 2009 COL McMoarn was selected to command the 52nd Troop Command. COL McMoarn is currently assigned as a student at the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks Pennsylvania.

COL McMoarn is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Field Artillery Officer Advance course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School and the Command and General Staff Officer’s Course. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

COL McMoarn and his wife Phalia reside in Chester Maine. They have 3 daughters, Jenny Pezzulo of Barrington Rhode Island, Maggie Hutchinson of Lincoln Maine, and Colleen McMoarn of Chester Maine.
