SEARSPORT, Maine — Penobscot Marine Museum is looking for gingerbread houses for Gingerbread Christmas By the Sea, their annual gingerbread house competition. Children and adults can bring their creations to the Museum Shop and Framer at 40 East Main Street, Searsport by Thursday, December 5th. The public is invited to vote for their favorite gingerbread house during the opening party for the winter exhibit Underfoot on Friday, December 6th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Searsport Christmas Tree Lighting is also Friday at 4:00 pm and Searsport children will be hanging their hand-made decorations on the tree.
After Saturday, December 7th, the gingerbread houses may be entered in the annual Chocolate Drop Shoppe Gingerbread House competition, and a representative from Chocolate Drop Shoppe will be at Penobscot Marine Museum on Friday the 6th with a registration form. Their $5 fee goes to the Belfast Rotary 100 Fund, which provides holiday gifts for struggling families in Waldo County.
