Chicken BBQ to benefit local Habitat

Posted June 25, 2013, at 1:18 p.m.

A chicken barbeque will be held Saturday, June 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., outside Traci’s Diner, Lower Main St., Belfast, to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County.

The meal will include a grilled half chicken (cooked with the recipe used at the old Boiler Festival), a variety of salads, cole slaw, a beverage and homemade dessert. Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased from any Habitat board member, at many of the local churches or by calling 338-2344 and leaving a message.

There will also be an option of a hotdog meal for children at a cost of $4.

Meals may be eaten at some outdoor picnic tables, inside Traci’s Diner, or be taken away as take-out. In case of rain, the barbeque will be moved to the First Baptist Church at 95 High Street where there is plenty of seating inside.

Proceeds will help the local Habitat, which has built two homes in the county and will soon start a weatherization program.
