Calling everyone who likes to cook! One of the long standing traditions of the Central Maine Egg Festival is the Annual Cheesecake and Quiche Contest. This fun event where we can see the winning displays and then eat them, will be held on Friday, July 18 at the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge #2713 in Pittsfield at 140 Middle Street. Contest entries are due Friday, July 18 by 10:30 am with the judging beginning at 11:00 am. It is $1.00 per entry submitted. The Luncheon will be held after the judging and will start at 12:00 noon. Slices are $3.00 each.
The Rules are very simple – you must use at least one (1) egg. All quiches and cheesecakes must be made from “scratch.” Judging will take place on appearance, taste, overall impression and creativity. The contest is open to anyone who is a Maine resident. Each contestant ages 16 and up can submit one entry per category. The recipe must be submitted with each entry, printed or hand written on one side of 8.5″ X 11″ papers. The recipe must list all ingredients, quantities and preparation instructions. Entrant’s name, address and phone number must be printed on the back of all pages. The Recipes and entries will become the property of the Central Maine Egg Festival. Pre-registration is not required, however, would be helpful to the coordinator Bev Rollins.
This year we are so fortunate to have the Pittsfield ARTS Club (Always Ready to Serve) organizing the event. To pre-register, please e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 487-2778. Applicants may also drop off their entry forms at the Pittsfield Town Office, 112 Somerset Avenue, Pittsfield, Maine 04967. Forms are on the Central Maine Egg Festival’s website at http://www.centralmaineeggfestival.org and the Town of Pittsfield’s website at http://www.pittsfield.org.
The Pittsfield ARTS Club is looking for sponsors for the event. If a business would like to donate a gift certificate or other items as a prize for the winners of the contest, it would be greatly appreciated and your business will receive recognition. The Central Maine Egg Festival Committee greatly appreciates the donations that we receive each year to keep this long-standing traditional event as a part of the Egg Festival. This event is just a lot of fun. People can also purchase whole cheesecakes and quiches while supplies last. The Pittsfield ARTS Club ladies are wonderful cooks so there will probably be a few other treats at the Luncheon available for purchase…..
